Flooring Policies

Flooring Sales Policy

The description of the flooring we are installing for you is detailed on your Sales Order. Upon receipt of this agreement, you are indicating that you have reviewed the Sales Order closely and the details within are correct.

All flooring products are "special order" for each individual customer’s needs. The items ordered for you are not returnable to the manufacturer or to Union Furniture and Flooring. On the rare occasion the material is returnable, handling and freight charges will apply.

All flooring projects require a certain amount of material to be ordered to complete your project. The amounts ordered are determined by field and/or blueprint measurements. Estimates typically require extra material be ordered over and above the actual square footage to insure enough material is on site to complete the project. In some cases, all of the material is not used to complete the project. Material overages are included within your estimate and unused material is not returnable.

All material orders require a 30% non-refundable down payment at the time materials are ordered.

Material ordered for installation will be stored by Union Furniture and Flooring a reasonable time until an agreeable installation date is set. The installation schedule is solely dependent on the installation crew schedules.

Material ordered that is not to be installed by Union Furniture and Flooring is expected to be picked up, paid for and stored by the customer within 14 days of receipt by Union Furniture and Flooring.

The labor associated with installation is warrantied for (12) months from the date of installation. Products sold are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Union Furniture and Flooring does not warranty products sold.

Products made from natural materials (stone tile, ceramic tile, wool, real linoleum, wood, etc.) have natural variations. As a result, you should expect variations. These natural variations are not defects, and no refund or replacement will be made for natural products that have normal color, texture and appearance variations.

Many products have unique texture such as "hand scraped or rustic" looks. These textures are not exact or consistent and may have variations from samples. These are not defects and the products are not returnable for such variations.

Defective Products

Fortunately, it is a very rare situation, but should the manufacturer determine the flooring materials that we install in your home are defective, we will make it a top priority to repair or replace the materials as warranted. The warranties sold with the respective products are manufactures warranties only. The product has no warranty offered by Union Furniture and Flooring.

Monetary compensation is not provided for lost wages, lost revenue or any other contingency; including but not limited to the cost of other contractors, the cost for alternate accommodations or psychological distress.

Furniture and Fixtures

Moving furniture and fixtures within your home can be arranged if necessary. The fee for moving furniture and fixtures will be quoted to you at the time of the sale. If you did not request furniture and/or fixtures to be moved and it was not included within your estimate, additional fees will apply.

Our installers are careful when moving items; however, all items are moved at the client’s own risk.

Our installers do not typically move pool tables, pianos, grandfather clocks, waterbeds, fish tanks, guns, or other items that are determined too sensitive or of dangerous nature. If moving sensitive items is requested, the installers and UFC assume no liability for damages caused as a result of the request.

Items that you intend for our installers to move should have drawers emptied, sheets removed, etc. to insure they are ready to be moved.

Breakable and removable shelves with dressers/hutches/etc. should be removed by the client.

Our installers do not un-hook or re-connect any electronic equipment.

Our installers do not un-hook or re-connect any appliances that are hardwired. You will need to hire an electrician to do so.

Our installers do not disconnect or reconnect gas stoves, icemakers, gas dryers, etc. You will need to hire your own contractor to do so.

If requested to disconnect and/or re-install toilets, refrigerators or other fixtures; the installers nor UFC assume responsibility for any damage caused as a result of the request. Effort will be made to insure the fixtures are re-installed in the same condition as they were prior to the move; however, no liability is assumed by the installers or the UFC if the fixture or appliance leaks or does not work properly following the move.

Our installers do not move items that are fixed to the floors, walls or ceilings.

You can reduce your cost by moving as many items as possible yourself.

Job Site

Electrical power must be available at the job site.

Carpet – Job site must be acclimated to at least 67 degrees for 3 hours before, during and after the installation.

Hardwood – Job site must be acclimated to normal living conditions 3 days before the wood is delivered to the job site and then for the life of the floor.

Humidity will affect the natural wood products and should be maintained in the 35%-55% range.

Water lines running to and from refrigerators and washing machines should be disconnected by the customer. If they are required to be removed by the installer, they are done so without assuming liability for risk.

Removal of Existing Floors

Removal and disposal of existing floors will benoted on your sales order if it is included. If it is not listed, additional fees may apply.

We are not licensed to remove asbestos flooring. We can go over the flooring in some cases; however, we will not remove it.

Glued carpet, wood floors, tile and vinyl removal is estimated with a basic price; however, some removal prove to be challenging and require additional labor above what was estimated. The additional costs will be discussed with you in advance or upon discovery as time allows for such discussion.

Our installers reserve the right to refuse to remove any urine soaked floors or work in unsanitary onditions.

We cannot be held responsible for unknown circumstances. Our professional estimators make every effort to include every item we can foresee. For example, it is impossible to know if and how much leveling a subfloor may require until after the existing floor is removed. If additional charges apply and the customer refuses to authorize the work necessary to complete the project, no refund for the materials and labor expended will be granted.

Stairs – there are many ways to install stairs. Be sure to discuss with your salesperson which method you wish for us to use. If the method is not specified on your Sales Order, then we will choose what we determine in our discretion to be the best one.

Seams – We guarantee professionally constructed durable seams. Professionally constructed seams are NOT invisible seams. There are many factors affecting whether a seam will be visible. Factors are not limited to: type and amount of natural light or artificial lighting in the room, the thickness, construction and color of the carpet.

Baseboards – Some surface scratching may occur during installation. Touch-up is the responsibility of the homeowner. If existing baseboards are required to be removed and re-installed, every effort will be made to re-install the baseboards in their original condition; however, some damage may occur at the risk of the client.

In most cases, it is recommended that baseboards be installed no more than ½" above the subfloor prior to carpet installation.

Patterned – No pattern is without skew. No room is perfectly square. We do our best to get the most pleasing look in the room but additional overage may be necessary.

Labor warranty on carpet installation is one year.

Job Completion

Our installers are expected to clean-up and remove debris created during the installation process. With any remodeling, there WILL be dust. Customer is responsible for covering items they will to remain dust free. Some material overages may be left on-site for your future use.

Upon completion of your installation, Union Furniture Co. and our installers are exempt from any damage or claim of damage that occurs after the floor is installed. Post-install construction activities or living conditions are beyond the control of Union Furniture or our installers.

Payment of Balance Due

Payment of the balance due on completed projects is expected upon receipt of your final invoice.

Unpaid balances will be charged at 1.5% interest "periodic rate" or 18% annually.
